Girlfriendly AI Review

Girlfriendly AI sells a tool called AI Face Swap. The card advertising it says: "Swap faces in photos with realistic AI blending. Upload source images, refine skin and lighting."

Open the tool and the page is titled "AI Face Swap-Style Image Editing", and the first thing it tells you is that it works on "one image already in your Girlfriendly AI library" and that "the editor does not support exact two-photo identity transfer."

We have spent two months reading marketing that overstates what these platforms will let you do to a photograph. This is the first time we have found a product actively talking a customer down from the thing its own advert promised.

What is Girlfriendly AI?

Girlfriendly AI is a companion and generation platform at girlfriendly.ai. You chat with characters, including a large community-created roster, generate images, and on the upper tiers generate video and HD voice. It sits across three of our categories because it genuinely does chat, stills and video.

The disclosure situation is unusual. There is no company name anywhere on the site: not in the terms, not in the privacy policy, not in a footer. What there is, in the 2257 statement, is a physical address where records are kept: Girlfriendly AI, 100 N Howard Street, Spokane, WA 99201. An address without an entity is an odd halfway house. It is more than the platforms we reviewed this month that gave neither, and less than the ones that printed a registration number.

The legal shelf runs to six documents: a 2257 statement, community guidelines, a complaints policy, a human trafficking policy, terms and privacy. The 2257 page carries a last-updated date of 25 March 2026, which after a week of reviewing documents frozen in 2024 is worth noticing. The terms themselves are thin at around 720 words.

Policy check, and this is the part worth your attention.

Across 2.1 MB of application bundles there is no image-to-image, no initial image, no reference image, no identity adapter, no nudify, no file input, no image accept attribute, no FileReader, no multipart upload and no presigned URL. The two inpaint hits are text inside tool descriptions, not code. There is no mechanism by which a photograph leaves your device.

That matters because the tool catalogue sounds like it should have one. There is an AI Face Swap, an NSFW AI Face Swap, an AI Image Editor and an NSFW AI Image Editor whose blurb mentions retouching bodies and inpainting regions. Read the cards and you would expect the worst. Read the tools and each one describes prompt-based editing of an image already in your library, with the face-swap pages explicitly disclaiming identity transfer between two photos. The code agrees with the tools, not the cards.

So the marketing is wrong in the direction that costs the company customers rather than the direction that creates victims. We will take it, while noting that a card promising "Upload source images" on a product with no upload button is sloppy in a way that invites exactly the wrong kind of user to sign up.

Here is the gap. Nothing in Girlfriendly's guidelines prohibits generating a real identifiable person. The guidelines state that characters "do not represent real people", which is a description of what the product is rather than a rule about what you may not do with it. The minors clause, by contrast, is explicit and properly worded, covering material that exploits or harms minors and any content depicting minors in a sexual context, with suspension and reporting attached. One of those two clauses was written carefully. The other was not written at all.

The features that actually matter

A community roster. Much of the catalogue is user-created rather than curated in-house, which is the Janitor AI model and the reason the character variety is the thing reviewers consistently praise.

Memory that actually differs by tier. 128K tokens on Premium and Deluxe, 1M tokens on Ultimate. Most rivals describe memory as "better" or "longest" without a number. A published token ceiling is a real specification.

Batch generation. Two images at once on Premium, four on Deluxe, eight on Ultimate. Small, concrete, and rarely published.

Hearts, with purchase bonuses. The currency is Hearts, allocated monthly at 5,000, 25,000 and 60,000, with a 10%, 20% or 25% bonus on any Hearts you buy on top. The bonus scaling with tier is standard practice; publishing the percentages is not.

Pricing, without the bullshit

The full rate card is public before you sign up, which puts Girlfriendly ahead of roughly half of everything we have reviewed this month.

One detail the table hides: only Deluxe and Ultimate get unlimited standard messages. Premium gets "50% off standard AI messages", which means the cheapest tier still meters your conversation. If chatting is the point, Premium is not the entry ticket it looks like, and Deluxe at $13.99 is where the product actually starts.

The yearly savings are advertised as 43%, 70% and 66%, computed against the monthly rate times twelve ($155.88, $527.88 and $1055.88). That is a legitimate comparison rather than an invented list price, which is more than we could say for Fanfinity two days ago, though the "Save $697" banner on Ultimate is still doing a lot of theatrical work for a $359 product.

What is not published is the Hearts cost of any individual action. You know how many Hearts you get and what a bonus purchase adds; you do not know what an image or a video takes out. That is the standard gap in this category and Girlfriendly does not close it.

What users say

Very little, and here is a trap to avoid. Searching this brand surfaces Trustpilot results for girlfriend.ai, a different domain with a different operator, currently sitting at 3.5 from three reviews. Those numbers have nothing to do with girlfriendly.ai and we are not going to launder them into this review. Several directories make exactly that conflation.

What coverage exists for the right platform is directory-level and mild: praise for character variety and the community-created roster, a verdict that it suits anime aesthetics and flirty NSFW conversation more than realism or romantic depth, and a note that voice messages land better than expected. One listing quotes a $15 trial figure we could not reconcile with the published ladder and have not adopted.

There is no Trustpilot presence for girlfriendly.ai itself, no scam-scanner consensus, and no volume of user complaints. As usual in this category, the published documents and the code are doing more work than the crowd.

Final verdict: who is Girlfriendly AI for?

Get Girlfriendly AI if: you want a large community-built character roster, you value knowing the price and the memory ceiling before you pay, or you specifically want a platform whose editing tools refuse identity transfer in writing.

Skip it if: you need to know which company is taking your money, you want an explicit written ban on real-person generation before you trust a platform's intentions, or you were counting on Premium for unlimited chat.

The formula we'd pick: free tier first, then Deluxe at $13.99 rather than Premium, because unlimited standard messages is the line that separates a chat product from a metered one and Premium sits on the wrong side of it. Take the yearly $158 only after a month has told you what your Hearts actually buy, since that is the one number nobody publishes.

Rating: 7.1/10. Its product is more careful than its advertising, which is the rarest thing we have found in this category.
