Every platform in this category says you must be 18. Almost none of them checks. Cherrypop guesses from your IP address and how you behave. FLIRTcam asks you to click a button that says yes. SecretCrush reserves the right to ask and leaves it there.

Hallufox opens your camera.

Its interface calls it a quick identity and age check, it runs before you get access, and it is the single most consequential difference between this platform and the eight others we have reviewed in the past fortnight. It is also intrusive, and some readers will close the tab at that sentence. Both things are true, and only one of them protects anyone.

What is Hallufox?

Hallufox is an AI character chat platform at hallufox.com, combining roleplay conversation with image and video generation. You browse a character catalogue, chat, and generate custom media of your companion, all metered in credits. There is a gallery, a creator flow for building your own characters, and voice calls on the paid tiers.

For once there is no domain confusion to warn you about: hallufox.ai, .io and .app do not resolve, and hallufox.com is the only live property. After a fortnight of Bible journals, vintage t-shirt shops and parked landers squatting on these brand names, that is worth a line.

The operator is ELITEHUB LIMITED, at Leoforos Lordou Vyronos 36, Nicosia Tower Centre, Lefkosia, Nicosia, Cyprus. That is the fifth Cypriot company we have documented in this run, after the operators of Flirti, Nemora, Cherrypop and SpicyCam. The pattern stopped being a coincidence around the third one.

The policy question

Hallufox passes, and it does so on both of the tests we apply.

The architectural test first. There is an upload here: the character creator accepts a static JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10MB as a character avatar, by drag and drop, and crops it for the profile card. A profile picture uploader also exists but is marked as preview only, with avatar upload "coming soon". So an image can enter the system.

The question that decides everything is whether that image can steer generation, and the answer is no. We pulled all 22 of the platform's JavaScript bundles, roughly 1.7 MB, and searched for every mechanism by which an uploaded picture could condition an output: image-to-image, init images, reference images, source images, IP adapters, face identity embeddings, face swap, inpainting, undress and nudify. Zero hits across the entire codebase. The single instance of the word "deepfake" anywhere in that 1.7 MB is the content policy text prohibiting them.

An uploaded avatar here is a portrait attached to a character card, the same pattern we cleared at CraveU, Kuro and SecretCrush. It is not a face the generator can wear.

The written test second, and this is where Hallufox is genuinely strong. Its content policy opens by stating it governs content "whether you input it, request it, generate it, upload it, or share it", which closes the loophole most policies leave open by only addressing generation. Its zero-tolerance section prohibits, with no exceptions, any content sexualising or endangering a minor "real or fictional... including in fiction, roleplay, 'aged-up,' stylized, or AI-generated form", child grooming, non-consensual intimate content including deepfakes of real identifiable people, and trafficking. It commits to reporting to NCMEC.

The aged-up clause deserves specific credit. That loophole is the standard defence in this corner of the internet, and naming it closed is more than most platforms will do.

Behind that sits a genuinely complete legal shelf: terms of use, privacy policy, content policy, acceptable use policy, underage policy, content removal policy, complaint policy and a 2257 exemption statement, all dated July 2026. The 2257 statement takes the standard position, that AI output depicts no real human performers and so falls outside the record-keeping requirement.

One irritation worth flagging. Every one of those documents sits at a URL you would not guess. /terms returns 404; the terms are at /terms-of-use. /privacy returns 404; privacy is at /privacy-policy. There is no /legal and no /2257. We only found the shelf by reading the footer of a policy we reached by luck. Thorough compliance filed where nobody will look is worth less than it should be.

The features that actually matter

Camera-based age verification. Covered above, and the headline. It is the one thing this entire category is worst at, and this is the only platform in our recent run that solves it rather than gesturing at it.

Image and video generation with a credit meter. Both present, both spending credits, with a wallet in the account menu. Premium grants 1,000 credits a month.

Voice calls. Paid tier only, alongside "photo unlocks".

A gated creator flow. Building your own character runs through a "creator quick create" step that first checks access. Character creation appears to be restricted rather than open to everyone, which is unusual and, given that user-made characters are how most platforms in this category accumulate their worst content, defensible.

Pricing, without the bullshit

Nothing. That is the finding.

Hallufox publishes no price anywhere we could reach. There are Free, Premium and Deluxe tiers, monthly and annual billing tabs, and a "save X percent" badge, but every actual number loads behind the application. No usable third-party source exists either, because searches for this brand return Character.AI.

So this review publishes zero figures, and tells you what the structure looks like instead. Premium buys unlimited chat, exclusive models, 1,000 credits monthly, photo unlocks and voice calls. Credits meter the visual features, and the terms confirm the usual: virtual tokens have no cash value, are not transferable, and cannot be exchanged for money. Billing, cancellations and refunds live in a separate Refund and Billing Policy.

One thing we can criticise without knowing the price. A minus 70% badge is pinned permanently to the sidebar navigation, visible on every page of the site. A discount that is always running is not a discount; it is the price, sitting next to a larger number that exists to make it look generous. We made the same objection to Nemora's crossed-out annual rate and to Cherrypop's countdown. Ignore the badge entirely.

What users say

Nothing at all.

No Trustpilot profile, no Reddit thread, no forum discussion. Every search for the brand returns Character.AI, which is a different and vastly larger platform. The only page on the open web that talks about Hallufox is Hallufox.

So there is no track record here, positive or negative. No breach, no scam allegations, no billing complaints, and no evidence of a user base either. What sits in its place is a compliance file that took real work to produce and an age check that costs the operator conversions. Neither is proof of good faith. Both are more than an anonymous shell would bother with.

Final verdict: who is Hallufox for?

Get Hallufox if: you care that a platform actually verifies age rather than pretending to, and you are comfortable with a camera check to prove your own. The compliance posture here is better than almost anything else in this category.

Skip it if: a camera-based identity check is a line you will not cross, which is a completely reasonable position for an adult platform, or if you refuse to register before seeing a price. Nemora publishes its full ladder without an account.

The formula we would pick: create the free account, get through the verification, and go straight to the pricing screen before you touch a character. Judge the number on its own, with the minus 70% badge covered by your thumb.
