Soulmate IO Review
Five tiers, a points currency and a full price list buried in its own code, on a platform with no terms of service at all.

// Our verdict
Unusually transparent about its price ladder and unusually opaque about everything else. The complete absence of legal pages is the problem, not the product.
Most platforms in this category hide their pricing behind a signup wall and let the reviewers guess. Soulmate IO does the opposite by accident: its entire tier ladder sits in plain text inside the page the browser downloads, prices in cents, allowances and all. Five tiers, exact numbers, nothing to reconstruct.
Then you go looking for the terms of service and get a 404. Then the privacy policy: 404. Content policy, legal notice, refund terms: 404, 404, 404. A platform that will tell you the exact price of its Max tier down to the cent has published no document explaining what it does with your conversations.
That contrast is the whole review.
What is Soulmate IO?
Soulmate IO is an AI companion platform at soulmate.io, offering text chat, roleplay and voice calls with characters you either pick from a library or build yourself. The product shape is familiar: pick a companion, talk, escalate, pay to keep going.
The naming is where it gets confusing, and you should know this before you search for it. The site's own page title is "Spicy Chat AI", which is the brand of an entirely different and much larger platform we cover separately. Its media files are served from a soulmaite.com domain, suggesting a third name underneath. Meanwhile soulmateai.io and soulmate.ai, the two domains you would naturally try, are both dead. If you are hunting for reviews of this product, half of what you find will be about something else.
Policy check. We scanned the site's markup and every reference we could find for the features that get a tool removed from this list: undress or nudify tools, face swap, photo upload feeding an editor, celebrity catalogues, voice cloning from user samples. Nothing. The only keyword hit was a marketing line about companions having a "real personality", which is not what we are looking for. Soulmate IO passes the exclusion policy cleanly.
The features that actually matter
A points currency layered on the subscription. Every paid tier comes with a monthly allocation of GPoints: 800 on Pass, 1800 on Plus, 4000 on Pro, 10000 on Max. This is the metered model we complain about in every second review. Your subscription is not the price of using the product, it is the price of a monthly allowance, and when the allowance runs out the experience stops or you top up. Angel.ai's flat unlimited pricing exists precisely as a reaction to this structure.
Character limits as a tier lever. Unusual, and worth flagging because it catches people out. Free lets you keep one character. Pass allows three. Plus allows ten. Only Pro and Max remove the cap entirely. If you are the kind of user who builds a small cast rather than one companion, the tier you need is set by your roster size, not by how much you chat.
Voice calls with a hard free cap. The free tier's voice budget is 180 seconds. Three minutes, total, and then the feature closes. As a demo that is honest enough, and it is more than Kupid AI's free tier offers, which is fifteen text messages and no media at all.
Staged NSFW gating. The free tier's own settings define a tease limit of one for NSFW chat and three for NSFW roleplay. In plain terms: the conversation will start heading somewhere, stop, and show you a payment screen. Once or three times depending on the mode. It is a coherent funnel rather than a bait and switch, but you should expect it rather than discover it mid scene.
Pricing, without the bullshit
Here is what the site's own configuration says, converted from the cents it stores:
| Plan | Price | GPoints/month | Characters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 0 | 1 |
| Pass | $9.99/mo | 800 | 3 |
| Plus | $19.99/mo | 1800 | 10 |
| Pro | $39.99/mo | 4000 | Unlimited |
| Max | $79.99/mo | 10000 | Unlimited |
Max is also the only tier flagged for premium roleplay in that same configuration.
And now the problem. Third-party coverage of Soulmate describes a completely different offer: a monthly plan around $14 with a cap of roughly six companion personas, and an annual plan around $89, which works out near $7.40 a month. That is not a rounding difference or a currency conversion. It is a different ladder with different limits.
We are not going to pretend we can resolve that from the outside, so here is our reasoning instead. The site's own runtime configuration is the stronger source: it is what the product actually loads to decide what you can do, and it agrees with itself across tiers, allowances and caps. The third-party figures may be older, may be a promotional variant, or may have been copied from another product with a similar name, which given the three-name situation described above is entirely plausible. Either way, we would not hand over a card until we had seen the checkout screen with our own eyes.
At $9.99, the Pass tier is priced sensibly for what it is. At $79.99, Max is at the top end of the entire category, above Muah AI's most expensive tier and roughly double what SoulGen or Promptchan charge for their premium plans. Ten thousand points is a big allowance, but nobody outside the company can tell you what a point buys, and the site does not publish an equivalence table. Kuro AI does publish one, which is exactly why we praised it.
What users say
Almost nothing, and that is the finding.
We could not locate a Trustpilot profile for the product, meaningful Reddit discussion, or any volume of user reports about billing, refunds or content quality. The name confusion makes this worse than usual: searches for "Soulmate AI review" return results about other companion apps entirely, and searches for "Spicy Chat AI" return results about SpicyChat.
So there is no track record here, positive or negative. No breach, no scam allegations, no billing scandal. Also no evidence anyone has been using this long enough to have complaints. Treat the silence as absence of information, not as a clean bill of health.
What we can state as fact is the documentation gap. Every legal URL we tried returns a 404. No terms of service means no published refund policy, no stated data retention period, no content rules, no jurisdiction. For a platform asking $79.99 a month at the top tier and storing intimate conversation logs, that is not a small omission. Naughti AI has the same profile and we scored it in the same range for the same reason.
Final verdict: who is Soulmate IO for?
Consider Soulmate IO if: you want to test the free tier out of curiosity, you like the transparency of a published tier ladder, and you are comfortable paying a small amount to a platform that has not told you its terms. The Pass tier at $9.99 keeps the exposure low.
Skip it if: you were considering Plus, Pro or Max. At $19.99 and up you are in Candy AI and CraveU AI territory, both of which publish actual terms and have a visible user base you can check before paying. Skip it too if the points economy is what you were trying to escape, because Soulmate IO is built on one.
The formula we would pick: the free tier for as long as three minutes of voice and one tease allow, then stop and compare the checkout screen against the numbers in this review. If they match, the Pass tier is a reasonable small bet. If they do not, you have learned something more useful than any review could tell you.
Rating: 6.0/10. Unusually clear about its prices, silent about everything a subscriber has a right to know.
// FAQ
Soulmate IO: quick answers
How much does Soulmate IO cost?
The site's own configuration lists five tiers: Free, Pass at $9.99/month, Plus at $19.99, Pro at $39.99 and Max at $79.99. Each carries a monthly GPoints allowance (0, 800, 1800, 4000 and 10000) and a character limit (1, 3, 10, then unlimited on the top two). Be aware that third-party coverage quotes a completely different structure, around $14 a month or $89 a year, so check the checkout screen before you commit to any figure, ours included.
Is Soulmate IO free?
There is a genuine free tier, but a tightly gated one. Its own settings cap voice calls at 180 seconds, limit you to a single character, allocate zero GPoints, and gate NSFW chat after one tease and NSFW roleplay after three. That is enough to judge the writing quality and nothing more.
Why does Soulmate IO call itself Spicy Chat AI?
Its page title reads 'Spicy Chat AI', which collides directly with SpicyChat AI, a far larger and unrelated platform we review separately. Its own image CDN sits on a soulmaite.com domain, hinting at yet another brand behind it. Three names for one product is not fraud, but it does make it very hard to research what you are buying.
Is Soulmate IO safe?
We found nothing prohibited in the product: no undress feature, no face swap, no photo uploader, no clones of real people. What we did find is that every legal page we tried returns a 404, terms, privacy, content policy and all. With no published terms there is no stated refund policy, no data retention commitment and no content rules to hold anyone to. That is a governance gap, not a proven danger, but it is the reason this review does not score higher.
