Let’s do something unusual for a review: start with the bad news. In September 2024, Muah AI was hacked. Roughly 1.9 million email addresses were exposed, tied to users’ chat and image-generation prompts. Real inboxes, connected to very private fantasies, in a file passed around the internet. The breach is documented on Have I Been Pwned, extortion attempts against exposed users were reported, and the press coverage was brutal.

We’re telling you this first because most reviews of Muah bury it under feature lists, and we think that’s backwards. Now, with eyes open, let’s look at what Muah actually offers, because some of it genuinely exists nowhere else.

What is Muah AI?

Muah AI is an uncensored AI companion platform: text chat, AI photo generation, voice messages, and its party trick, real-time phone calls with your AI companion. The tone is “no filter, period”, and on that promise users agree it delivers: conversations go where you take them, no moralizing wall.

Access is web-only these days (the Android app was removed from Google Play in 2024, and there’s no iOS app), which tells you something about how platforms like this live on the edges of the app-store economy.

The features that actually matter

The phone calls. This is Muah’s unicorn feature. On the top tier you can literally call your companion and hold a real-time voice conversation. Reviewers report it’s US-only and locked to the $99.99/month plan, but nobody else in the mainstream market offers it at all. If this specific feature is your dream, Muah is currently the only store in town.

Uncensored everything. Chat, photo generation (up to “4K” on higher tiers), voice cloning on the upper plans. The content freedom is real and consistently confirmed by users.

The reliability problem. The same user reviews that praise the freedom describe a fragile platform: voice generation errors, characters forgetting context after 40-50 messages, names getting mixed up mid-conversation. For a product whose pitch is intimacy, amnesia is a mood killer.

Pricing, without the bullshit

The $9.99 VIP is priced fairly for what it does. The jump to $49.99 and $99.99 is steep, and you’re paying for exactly two things: image resolution and the phone. Decide if the phone is worth a hundred bucks a month to you; for most people the answer writes itself.

One more warning from the field, and it’s not small: reviews document billing friction, including at least one user who couldn’t view or cancel their subscription from their account and had to resort to a PayPal chargeback. If you subscribe, pay with a method you can dispute, and screenshot everything.

What users say

The love: total content freedom, the phone calls, and when the tech cooperates, conversations users describe as natural.

The hate: instability, memory resets, billing headaches. And hovering over everything, the breach. The company blamed competitors for the hack; whoever pulled the trigger, the data was demonstrably not protected well enough. One security researcher who examined the platform described it as open-source projects “duct-taped together”. Harsh… but that’s a quote from the coverage, not from us.

Final verdict: who is Muah AI for?

Consider Muah only if: the phone-call feature or its specific flavor of no-filter matters enough to you to accept documented risk, and you’re disciplined about it: burner email, no real details in chat, disputable payment method.
